Volley in the Valley Tournament

Description

Join us on June 13th and 14th for Catalyst’s second annual volleyball tournament at 12 North Sports Bar, this year with an added event! Day 1 will be team style tournament play. Day 2 will close out tournament play and introduce our “King of the Court”l tournament. Bring your friends, spectators are encouraged!

Food and beverage will be available to purchase throughout the day (no outside alcohol can be brought onto 12 North property)  

Day 1: Team Tournament - 6/13

6 v 6 (Coed, min 2 men, 2 women on court at all times)

$300 per team (12 team cap) - Team members due at registration

Team Check-In: 9:00 AM 

Games Begin: 10:00 AM (or sooner if opposing teams are checked in)

4 game guarantee (3 preliminary and 1 round of playoff/bracket play)

Bracket Play Begins: approx 1:00 PM

Tournament Concludes/Awards Ceremony: approx. 6:00 PM, or 6/14 if necessary

Preliminary Round games will be 3 sets to 21 (win by 2, cap at 25). All 3 sets will be played 

Bracket play will be best of 3 sets to 25 (win by 2, cap at 30)

Day 2: King and Queen of the Hill! - 6/14

Individual Tournament; players will sign up separately

Placed on 6v6 coed teams (randomized, will change every game)

$30 per player (36 player cap)

8 game guarantee (each game will be played in 10 minute intervals)

Each game will have no cap on points; play until time expires

Score from each team will be added to player’s overall points

Highest point total for the top 2 men and top 2 women win!

Team Check-In: 10:00 AM 

Games Begin: 11:00 AM (or sooner if all players have checked in)

Tournament Concludes/Awards Ceremony: approx. 1:00 PM

Reffing/Rules of Play:

Reffing will be done by volunteers with basic recreational volleyball rules expected to be followed with assistance from the teams, for example:

-3 hits per team per play

-No touching the net

-No carries

-No returns on serves

-Switch sides every set

-Rotating servers

Basic rules will be reiterated for refs and players on tournament day. 

Tournament tank tops will be given to all participants (sizes due with registration)

Team and player registration deadline of May 27th, 2026 to guarantee tank top. 

Liability Waivers: 

Waivers are required to play and receive your tank tops. Waivers will be available day of for completion. They can be turned in during team check-in on tournament day.

Proceeds from this tournament will be used to help cover costs for other Catalyst charity events and fundraisers, such as our annual Jingle Jam in December.
