
Registered Nurse whos main focus will be Infusions
Position Summary:
The primary focus of this role is the safe, skilled, and compassionate delivery of infusion therapy. The Registered Nurse (RN) will lead infusion services as the core responsibility, ensuring excellent patient care, adherence to clinical protocols, and an exceptional patient experience. In addition to managing infusions, the RN will support care coordination and clinical operations to maintain a smooth, efficient, and compliant practice environment. The RN is expected to function confidently within the professional nursing scope, execute prescribed medical regimens, and contribute to practice growth and infusion suite excellence. Comprehensive training and continued support will be provided to ensure success and professional development in this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Nursing Care
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including pre-infusion, intra-infusion, and post-infusion evaluations.
- Identify nursing diagnoses and develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
- Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with evidence-based practice, NYS regulations, and practice protocols.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, infusion therapies, medications, and post-treatment care.
Infusion Therapy Responsibilities
- Administer IV infusion therapies, injections (IM/SQ), biologics, and other ordered treatments in accordance with provider orders and established protocols.
- Prepare infusion suite, including medication verification, equipment setup, and infection control measures.
- Monitor patients throughout infusion for adverse reactions, side effects, or complications and respond appropriately.
- Initiate and manage IV access, including peripheral IVs and care of venous access devices as applicable.
- Execute standing orders and non-patient-specific protocols (e.g., emergency medications, anaphylaxis response) as authorized.
- Maintain infusion logs, medication administration records, and required clinical documentation.
- Support infusion scheduling efficiency and chair utilization in collaboration with administrative staff.
- Participate in inventory oversight, medication handling, and safe storage in compliance with regulatory standards.
Medication & Treatment Administration
- Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed by licensed providers (MD, NP, PA).
- Verify orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness prior to administration.
- Monitor therapeutic response and promptly report concerns to the provider.
- Ensure compliance with the “five rights” of medication administration and all practice policies.
Care Coordination & Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Communicate patient status, treatment progress, and clinical concerns clearly and timely to providers.
- Support referrals, follow-up care, and continuity of care across services.
- Act as a clinical resource and support for staff regarding infusion-related workflows and patient care standards.
- Assist with ON CALL
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, patient responses, and education provided.
- Adhere to NYS documentation standards and practice policies to support quality care and audit readiness.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance activities as required.
- Triaging
- Remote Monitoring assistance (Training provided)
Professional & Operational Expectations
- Maintain current NYS RN license and required registrations.
- Complete all mandated NYS training, including Infection Control and Child Abuse Reporting.
- Maintain required certifications (BLS/CPR; ACLS preferred depending on infusion acuity).
- Uphold professional standards, patient confidentiality, and ethical practice at all times.
- Support a calm, patient-focused, and collaborative clinical environment.
- Contribute to practice efficiency, patient satisfaction, and service line growth, particularly within infusion services.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Strong IV skills and comfort managing infusion reactions.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small practice setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be a team player
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and position patients and equipment as needed.
- Work is performed in a clinical and infusion suite environment.
Compliance Statement
This position operates strictly within the scope of practice defined by New York State Education Law Article 139. The RN does not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe treatments and performs all clinical duties in collaboration with licensed providers and in accordance with established protocols.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate:$42– $50, commensurate with experience and infusion expertise
- Schedule:Monday–Thursday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM Friday 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Work Setting:Office-based only, no hospital assignments
- New Graduates are welcome to apply should they have a passion for Rheumatology.
