Coordinator Workforce Development
Job Summary
The Hillside Work Scholarship Connection (HWSC) Coordinator oversees the delivery and facilitation of academic and career enrichment, planning, and support. This position is responsible for relationship management activities to enhance the reputation and success of the HWSC program. This includes conducting employee trainings and leading projects. This position acts as a team leader and serves as the “right hand” to the HWSC Manager of Programming.
Essential Job functions
- Administer HW-SC policies, procedures, and programs to facilitate career, college, academic, post-secondary and enrichment functions.
- Educate, coach and make recommendations to regional management on HW-SC policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance to the model and to meet regional program goals.
- Develop new partner relationships while maintaining existing ones to support HW-SC programming and student opportunities.
- Engage with employers and community associations to engage in opportunities for HW-SC students such as job shadowing, internships, career speakers, and pre-apprentice trade opportunities.
- Partner with high school guidance counselors and higher education institutions to maintain knowledge and service expertise for student programming.
- Oversee and implement career, post-secondary, academic, and/or employment programming and facilitation within the region.
- Ensure student commitment to employment, career, post-secondary, academic, and enrichment programming.
- Identify, coordinate, and participate in local post-secondary and employment activities and tours.
- Provide resources and guidance to YAs and their students on the college application and financial aid process as well as job readiness, career, and employment support.
- Coordinate HW-SC student services and resources and YA programming through Specialist.
- Monitor placement and progress of participating students in partnership with YAs and Team Supervisors.
- Provide support services and resources for HW-SC students who are preparing for the transition from high school to military, trade school, employment, and college.
- Input data and generate reports from the HW-SC database (ETO) for individual and stakeholder summary progress reports.
- Enter data, pull reports, and identify risks or concerns relating to individual student or student trends relating to academic, employment, college, career, post- secondary activities and student transitions from middle school to high school to graduation, college, or career.
- Accurately complete all program paperwork in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of own work time and travel information.
- Manage assigned budget where applicable and ensure costs are within program parameters.
- YETA: Deliver Youth Employment Train the Trainer Training and certification where applicable.
- Beyond the Bell: (region specific) Oversees effective delivery and implementation of after school programming and services as defined.
- Senior Satellite: (region specific) Oversees effective delivery and implementation of senior satellite services as defined.
- GEER: (region specific) Oversees effective delivery and implementation of senior satellite services as defined.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply services from employment, college, career, post-secondary activities and student transitions for youth.
- Demonstrate proficiency in soliciting input and proactively evaluating business, program and youth needs; proven ability to take initiative and look beyond the obvious for program solutions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply State high school graduation requirements and local school specific requirements, as well as necessary post-secondary planning processes (planning, FASFA, SAT/ACT and/or Accuplacer testing, college applications) and career and job programming for youth.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency with software applications, accurate data entry and ability to learn new applications (internet, ETO, Parent Connect, Microsoft Office). Demonstrate ability to track and accurately record all interactions and activities in HW-SC database (ETO) per data entry deadlines.
- Identification and development of resources – is able to maximize the effectiveness of existing resources and identify and/or develop new resources.

Education & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Services, Youth Development, Workforce Readiness and Development, Business or related field required.
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in education, human services, training, workforce development or a similar background required.
- 2 years of direct supervision, team leader, mentorship or coaching capacity required.
Special Requirements:
- Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.

- Must be able to work a variable scheduling including evenings and weekends.
- The following physical demands are required:
- Occasional sitting (up to 4 hours)
- Occasional standing (up to 1 hour)

- Continuous balancing (up to 8 hours)
- Occasional balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, and twisting (up to 2.5 hours)
- Weekly lifting up to 50 lbs. (community-based staff may be required to lift an empty wheelchair weighing up to 50 lbs.), 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
- Weekly carrying up to 55 lbs. approximately 10-100 ft., 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
- Manual dexterity is required, including the frequent ability to grasp in both hands and continuous use of fine manipulation skills in both hands (approximately 1-2.5 hrs.)
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, gases or chemicals is apparent.
- Protective clothing or equipment required: Close toed shoes; Protective Shields, Universal Precaution PPE, Gloves for toileting and food preparation.
- Ability to change positions as needed.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
- May be required to climb stairs as necessary.
- May be required to attend community events or home sites that may occasionally expose employee to cigarette smoke, recreational marijuana or household cleaning products.
$23.33 Minimum Rate per hour, $34.99 Maximum Rate per hour, based on experience.
