Construction Accounting Clerk

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. This role is essential in supporting the financial operations of our construction projects, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient processing of financial transactions. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of accounting software, governmental and corporate accounting principles, and have a solid understanding of payroll management and financial reporting within the construction industry.

Responsibilities

·                 Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.

  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate data entry for all financial transactions using various accounting software such as JobPower, Foundation, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Workday, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Paychex, and UltiPro.
  • Assist with payroll management tasks utilizing systems like PayChex, ADP or Kronos to ensure proper employee compensation and tax compliance.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or anomalies in financial data.
  • Prepare financial reports in accordance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
  • Support budgeting processes and provide insights for cost control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal audit requirements.
  • Handle tax-related documentation and support tax filing processes as needed.
  • Perform account reconciliation for accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial activities.

Qualifications

·                 Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and public accounting practices.

  • Proficiency with accounting software such as JobPower, Foundation, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Paychex, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with payroll management systems like ADP or Paychex is preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Ability to perform data entry accurately at a high volume (10 key typing skills).
  • Knowledge of tax regulations related to construction or governmental projects is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
