Forget the tourist brochure. This is the real Utica.
Join us for a guided walking tour through the heart of downtown and discover how a former industrial city is reinventing itself through food, art, entrepreneurship, historic preservation, and community. Along the way, you'll hear the stories behind the buildings, businesses, and people helping shape Utica's next chapter.
We'll kick things off at the Utica University Nexus Center, one of the region's biggest economic success stories, before heading into Bagg's Square West, where century-old warehouses and factories are being transformed into apartments, businesses, and creative spaces. You'll get an up-close look at a neighborhood in transition and learn why so many people are paying attention to what's happening in Utica right now.
The tour continues through some of downtown's most interesting and Instagram-worthy spots, including the colorful murals near Utica Coffee Roasting Company, where we'll stop for coffee and conversation. From there, we'll explore historic landmarks such as Bagg's Tavern and Union Station while also checking out the modern side of downtown, including the Doyle Hardware Lofts, Tailor and the Cook, Crust Kitchen & Bar, and trendy hotspots like Silk Utica that are helping redefine the city's social scene.
Along the way, we'll talk about local culture, food, entertainment, housing, career opportunities, and why a growing number of young professionals are choosing smaller cities like Utica over larger, more expensive metro areas.
This isn't just a history tour. It's a behind-the-scenes look at a city that's evolving in real time.
