Ribbon Cutting: The Portal 1 Year Anniversary

Founded by Chelan Vanno in 2025, The Portal was established with a simple but ambitious vision: to create a place where people could gather to think differently, connect more deeply, and navigate life's opportunities and challenges together. 

Over the past year, The Portal has welcomed hundreds of individuals through its doors for leadership retreats, executive advisory sessions, nonprofit and community conversations, wellness experiences, workshops, and public events. It has become home to a growing network of leaders, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and organizations from across Central New York.

 Through CP Innovations Group LLC, Vanno provides strategic advisory, facilitation, leadership development, and organizational consulting services to businesses, nonprofits, and public sector organizations throughout the region. The Portal serves as both the home of that work and a gathering place for the broader community bringing together strategy, leadership, wellness, and connection under one roof. 

“The Portal was created at the intersection of leadership, community, and possibility," said Vanno. "Over the past year, it has become so much more than I imagined, not because of the space itself, but because of the people who continue to bring it to life every day. 

Vanno brings more than two decades of leadership experience to her work, including a 20-year federal career in organizational excellence and continuous improvement, along with certifications in project management, Lean Six Sigma, and integrative wellness practices. Her distinctive approach blends strategic thinking with human-centered leadership, helping individuals and organizations move from complexity to clarity.

 The anniversary celebration, held in partnership with the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, light refreshments, self-guided tours of the space, and an opportunity for community members to learn more about The Portal's vision for its second year.

 Located in the heart of Downtown Utica, The Portal offers flexible gathering spaces for meetings, retreats, workshops, professional use, and community programming. Since opening in 2025, it has become a unique addition to the region's business and nonprofit landscape—creating space for conversations that matter and connections that endure. Community members, business leaders, elected officials, and media representatives are invited to attend.
