May 2023 Business After Hours hosted by Central New York Conservancy
Wednesday, May 24, 2023 (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
For twenty years, the Central New York Conservancy, a non-profit organization, has been partnering with the City of Utica to preserve, maintain and beautify Utica’s parks and natural environment. From planting hundreds of trees to preserve Utica’s glorious tree canopy, to undertaking historic preservation projects in the parks, to 20 years of planting and maintaining flower beds on the Memorial Parkway, the CNY Conservancy has contributed to the well-being of our community through its park stewardship. Modeling the public-private partnership that the Central Park Conservancy formed with New York City, private citizens who were concerned about the condition of Utica’s parks founded the CNY Conservancy to enhance the park system through private funding and volunteerism. Since its inception, the CNY Conservancy has refurbished staircases, monuments, bath houses, bridges, and other features of our parks. It has also provided annual volunteer clean up and trail clearing services and even succeeded in having our Olmsted-designed parks listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The intent of the CNY Conservancy’s founders and our continued mission is to preserve our park legacy and care for our green spaces for generations. In 2023, after 20 years of working diligently to enrich our parks, the CNY Conservancy is evolving. Join us on May 24th to learn more about our plans to continue to enhance quality of life in Utica.
