Tournament Summary

Volley in the Valley is a coed 6-v-6 beach volleyball tournament Catalyst will be hosting at 12 North Sports Bar (10125 Mulaney Rd. Marcy, NY 13403) on Saturday, May 31st. Proceeds from this tournament will be used to help cover costs for other Catalyst charity events and fundraisers, such as our annual Jingle Jam in December.

Registration is $300 per team, due at time of registration (roughly $50 per team member)

12 Team Cap

Tournament tank tops will be given to all participants (team members and sizes due with registration)

Registration deadline of MAY 10, 2025 to guarantee tank top. Registrations completed after this date do not guarantee tank tops for participants.

Waivers are required to play and receive your tank tops. Waivers will be available day of for completion. They can be turned in during team check-in on tournament day.

Sponsors:

Sponsors with donations of $200+ or equivalent in prizes/basket(s), will be featured on the tournament tank tops.

Sponsor donations must be confirmed by MAY 10, 2025 to guarantee sponsor feature on the tournament tank tops. Sponsorships submitted or confirmed after this date are not guaranteed tank top feature.

Tournament Schedule/Day of Details:

No outside food or drink is allowed.

Food and drink will be available for purchase through 12 North.

Team Check-In: 9:00 AM

Games Begin: 10:00 AM (or sooner if opposing teams are checked in)

4 game guarantee (3 preliminary and 1 round of playoff/bracket play)

Bracket Play Begins: approx 1:00 PM

Tournament Concludes/Awards Ceremony: approx. 6:00 PM

Preliminary Round games will be 3 sets to 21 (win by 2, cap at 25). All 3 sets will be played

Bracket play will be best of 3 sets to 25 (win by 2, cap at 30)

Reffing/Rules of Play:

Reffing will be done by volunteers with basic recreational volleyball rules expected to be followed with assistance from the teams, for example:

-3 hits per team per play

-No touching the net

-No carries

-No returns on serves

-Switch sides every set

-Rotating servers

Basic rules will be reiterated for refs and players on tournament day.
